Coldplay Announce Dublin Gig 2009

They certainly know how to stretch the publicity. Coldplay have announced details of a huge outdoor show in Dublin, Ireland. The band will play the city's Phoenix Park on September 14th next year as part of their autumn stadium shows. As previously reported on ticketscam, Coldplay's tour will include shows in London, Manchester and Glasgow. Tickets go on sale on Monday (December 15th). For ticket sales go to ticketmaster and as per usual if you miss out then try viagogo or seatwave for premium priced tickets.

Britney Spears Adds Extra Dates

Britney has turned her O2 concerts into a London residency according to the NME. What quite constitutes a residency I'm not quite sure but tickets for her extra dates can be found at ticketmaster. Most seats are sold out so if you actually want to see her in action and are prepared to pay a premium then use viagogo or seatwave.

Ebay Concert ticket sellers can they be trusted?

During the course of my day searching for presale links etc I usually find myself on eBay at some stage looking at the average price of a ticket etc. This isn't something new but I think it needs to be pointed out as people who buy on eBay seem to think they have a fool proof protection against scams and this just isn't true.

Now I'm not saying the following two listings are scams but they certainly look very dodgy. Both were listing Britney spears tickets on Wednesday evening which was a day before the PRESALE date. I'll start with one I believe was a hijacked account the seller was anne19680_1 and the item number 190271378131 with a feedback rating of over 300.

All good so far you think to yourself but they were selling tickets which they claim were bought from overland tours ltd which itself is a ticket reseller. so we are in a situation where the tickets haven't even gone on sale and overland tickets has sold them to anne19680_1 who was then intending to sell them to another ebayer.

Now, this add may have been genuine but I'm 99% certain that neither person had the tickets yet and they would be joining the queue at 7.30am on Thursday morning to try and fill that order!

On a final note after looking at the feedback you'll see account regular activity up until July 2008 and then nothing until December so it's possible that the account had been hijacked.
Remember if you're buying gig tickets do your research!


The second Ebayer that warrants a mention is eflash08 with a feedback of 453 and item number 170284472211 who seems to sell a substantial amount of concert tickets. I must point out that the seller currently has 100% feedback but as feedback can only be left for 60 days after the purchase and tickets are sent out beyond that time then this could be misleading. Again this seller had listed Britney Spears tickets on Wednesday 4th a day before the were due to be released on presale. It poses the question does this seller always sell tickets he hasn't got in the hope of buying them up at a later date? If so it's a very dangerous way to do business. I emailed eflash08 and asked for a response but unfortunately I am yet to receive a reply.

Morrissey announces tiny tour for 2009

Morrissey has announced a smallUK tour, which will include a two nights in Manchester. The former Smiths' and moody mancunian star will begin at London's Royal Albert Hall on May 11th before playing the Manchester Apollo on May 22nd and 23rd. Morrissey releases his new album, 'Years of Refusal', next February. Tickets for the tour go on sale tomorrow (December 5th) at 10am and will be available through seetickets and ticketmaster. Not really my cup of tea but Coldplay have added an additional date at London's Wembley Stadium to their 2009 UK tour.The band's show on September 18th, which will feature support from Girls Aloud, comes in addition to their sold-out date on September 19th.

The Specals Tour in 2009

To celebrate their 30 years the specials are reuniting for a series of gigs throughout the UK starting in Newcastle on the 22nd of April. At the moment the Coventry gig is being kept under wraps but a spokesperson for the band told ticketscam that something very interesting was being planned. Coldplay tickets are onsale today at 9.30am for what is expected to be a sell out tour. Initial dates are for 1th september - Manchester, 16th September - Glasgow and 19th September - London. Xclusive Ticket Scam Arrests Made

The alleged ringleaders of this summer’s Olympics ticket scam have been arrested, it was announced yesterday.
We were the first to link Terence Shepherd to the collapse of the website beijingticketing.com days before the opening ceremony.
Shepherd, 50, was arrested during a dawn raid on his house in Blackheath, South London, on Tuesday along with his wife Margaret Canty Shepherd, 49.
Parent companies Xlcusive Tickets Ltd and Xclusive Leisure & Hospitality Ltd went into liquidation in August owing £5million for 18,000 missing tickets for the Olympics and various summer music festivals.
Victims were in 60 countries and included the families of athletes competing in the Olympics.
Xclusive director Alan Scott, 54, was also arrested in the raids along with Geert van Meel, 51, and Richard Nicholas, 41, two other Shepherd associates.
The five were interviewed and released on uncon- ditional bail.
Detective Constable Tor Mansson, from Southwark CID, described the alleged crime as “particularly cruel”. He said: “This has cost people lots of money, which some may not be able to recover, and denied many of them once-in-a-lifetime opportunities.
“Some of those who have contacted us had bought ‘tickets’ through the company to travel to China to see loved ones compete in the Olympics.”
A spokesman for the Serious Fraud Office said that customers who had not received tickets should complete a form on the SFO website at www.sfo.gov.uk/investigations Source: Mirror

John Koukoullis appeared before magistrates on (Wednesday October 29) charged with fraudulently selling tickets for Premier League, FA and UEFA football matches. A summons had been issued against John Koukoullis, 37, of Birchwood, Briscoe Road, Hoddesdon, relating to 15 charges under the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act (CJPO) Act, of selling tickets for the football organisations without authorisation. Are illegal downloads good for music fans?

I was sitting on my laptop this morning whilst looking through the latest gig listings and I've noticed more and more often this year bands are adding extra dates to their tour schedules. It happened with Oasis, Take That and Snow Patrol to name a few. Whilst both Oasis and Take that have sold record amounts there are still tickets available. Could it be that bands cannot solely on record sales to pay for their retirement. Either way it can only be a good thing for your average gig goer

Concert tickets been Scammed?

1) Report the incident to the website they were advertised on eBay/gumtree etc - Don't expect any form of response from them but it's better to have a formal account of what has occurred. 2) If you paid via paypal less than 45 days ago lodge an item not received complaint. 3) If the purchase was funded via a credit card contact your card issuer who should provide a full refund on purchases over £100.00 under the consumer credit act of 1974. When it comes to debit cards visa have their own protection scheme which may help. 4) If you'd like to take the dispute further contact your local trading standards office and report the seller. 5) At this stage the police will be very reluctant to do anything as they'll usually consider it a civil matter. If you believe the seller has ripped of a few people then post on a forum the details of the alleged offence in order for other people to find you. Please keep everything factual and to the point avoiding any personal remarks however tempting it maybe. Once a few people have become involved then it's an excellent time to take all the information available to the police in a clear and concise form.

Buying concert tickets from ebay - www.ticketscam.co.uk

eBay seems to have turned us all into a ticket tout and makes it easy to offload spare tickets. I would never purchase tickets of somebody whose eBay account is solely used for the purpose of selling tickets. The reason being two fold; firstly tickets are not sent out until much closer to the gig so it's possible the eBay member is selling tickets they don't have at an inflated price with the intention of buying and supplying equivalent quality tickets at a later date. The end result can lead to you receiving poor quality tickets or not receiving them at all. Secondly feedback can only be left on eBay for a maximum of 60 days after the event. As concert tickets are usually sold well before this time frame if there is a problem buyers find that it's then too late to leave any negative feedback which would alert other potential buyers. Always aim for users with good feedback with a variety of different items, ask to see a copy of the ticket confirmation upon purchase and if possible fund your purchase on a credit card through paypal so you're protected under the consumer credit act. 1) Ask to see a copy of the booking confirmation. 2) Confirm the sellers details, check their address is accurate via royalmail and 192 3) Google the sellers name and phone number to look for similar scams. 4) Aim to pay via credit card if that isn't an option then visa debit, cheque or bank transfer in that order. If paying by cheque make sure the name is the same as the sellers name and if you're paying by transfer pay cash over the counter so you can clarify the account holders name with the cashier.

Ticket Exchanges - Viagogo, seatwave and getmein

Viagogo, seatwave and getmein are relatively new guys on the block. their aim is to allow people to buy and sell live event tickets in a safe and guaranteed way, and to bring "efficiency and transparency to what has traditionally been a murky market place" That's according to viagogo company director Eric Baker who previously set up ticketstub in the US. The main difference between ticket exchanges and secondary ticket sellers is that the former match sellers up with buyers and don't pay the seller until you have received the tickets you paid for. they also offer a ticket integrity guarantees which covers you in the event of any fraud. Unlike numerous secondary ticket sellers that offer this the ticket exchanges have the financial clout to back it up. If you miss out on official sales and are prepared to pay a premium then I would recommend these sites over eBay and certainly over secondary ticket sellers.

Nothing more to report about ticketline that I haven't already said about seetickets and ticketmaster. It's another official company which acts release their tickets to for them to sell to the general public. It is slightly less well known that seetickets or ticketmaster but seems to get allocated less tickets. However, It's certainly Worth having this site open in your browser come buying time

Official Concert tickets Sellers - Seetickets.com

Seetickets was formed from the merger of 'The Really Useful Theatre', 'Way Ahead' and 'Ticket Select' and is now probably the second largest and well known after Ticketmaster. It also owns www.gigsandtours.com which while the front end of the website maybe slightly different the booking process is done through seetickets. As with Ticketmaster they tend to get very busy when popular events are released leading the site to display a "come back later" on a number of occasions. What I have noticed recently is that tickets tend to go on sale a few minutes earlier than the allotted time and that of Ticketmaster so it's worth pressing the F5 refresh button. Once you've made your order you'll be given a tracking number which you can use to check on the progress of your gig tickets

A guide to official ticket sites - ticketmaster

I think it's fair to say that ticketmaster.co.uk is probably the most well known and is based in over 20 countries serving over 9,000 clients across a number of events When tickets are released for major concerts this site becomes extremely busy with gig tickets selling out in minutes. At the beginning of 2008 Ticketmaster purchased the ticket exchange site getmein. Tickets on this site usually retail for over 100% the face value but as you'd expect are backed with a fanguard guarantee. The final site which ticketmaster own and is relevant is ticketweb.co.uk which on the whole sell tickets for smaller gigs and clubnights.
